Descriptive Writing Samples

Fabulous Writing Samples

This week we are working on writing our way through the five nonfiction text structures. Sixth Grade has some serious writers and Fifth Grade was shining today too!!

The wind howled, tugging at its small branches,

stripping it from its colorful clothes.

A squirrel lay comfortable and warm inside a little hole,

listening to the wind sing. A mama bird and her

chicks fly away to some place warm for this cold winter,

abandoning their nest. A snapping sound can be

heard from one of the older limbs, it falls sadly to

the ground. But no matter how much the wind pulled,

the small tree sticks firmly to the ground,

in hope of a warm spring full of new life.-

She has 4 legs, 2 ears, 4 paws. Black stripes running across her front legs like lightning illuminating the sky, sharpest of the sharpest claws. A bite that could kill any mouse or leave a human bleeding. Ferocity like that of a Lion, energy that could last forever if she wanted it to. She can climb trees all the way to the tippy top, although you have to be the one to rescue her after 2 hours of waiting for her to come down. She has a fierce meow, and cute eyes that will make you give her whatever she wants. She likes to sleep by your feet, she likes to purr as well when someone pets her. She is also very sassy, and will try to bite anyone who she hasn’t seen before if they instantly try to pick her up and do something to her, the vet had some experience with that. Her coat consists of orange, yellow-ish, and grey-ish fur, and she, is my ______ Nala

Her hugs are like a cup of hot coffee.

Our conversations are like a diary, to be heard for us both for no one else to hear.

Our moods are in sync. (Most of the time)

She's not easy to read, but would never tell a lie,

and I may not know what she's thinking I know its

something she sees from both perspectives.

I sometimes question why she's so kind but then I remember

I wouldn't want it any other way.

I think she feels the same but i'm not really sure.

But I know I love her either way.

Halloween is our favorite holiday as the colors are black,
